Are you confused between an SSD or HDD for your computer? Or you might want to learn about an SSD and HDD. Then this article is for you.

Both SSD and HDD are the storage devices. It stores the data of the computer in it by different mechanisms for both SSD’s and HDD’s.

First of all what are SSD and HDD and what is the use of it.

HDD stands for HARD DISK DRIVE, it is the most primitive technology, considering the evolution of technology. The first HDD was made by IBM in 1956, which is more than 60 years. HDD’s uses the magnetism technology to read and write data. It consists of a magnetic tape placed over a platter in it which revolves about and the system consists of a read/write arm. So, this type memory is mechanical memory.

Now, lets learn about SSD’s so that we can make out the difference later on.

SSD stands for Solid State Drives, which uses electronic chips to store data in it. These memory devices are more reliable than the HDD because these chips does not contain any of the moving parts. A NAND- based flash memory is a non-volatile memory, which means it does not lose memory even if the power is turned off.
So, this type of memory is electronic memory.
Advantage of HDD is that the cost of it than a SSD is much less for per gigabyte storage. So you can storage loads of data for much lesser cost and enjoy the data space.

Advantage of SSD over the HDD is that it uses less power than the HDD.
